The Technical Meaning of an IRS CP504 Final Balance Due Alert

CP504 is a serious collection warning. Check the tax period, amount due, and date on your notice. If you cannot pay in full, contact the IRS or an authorized representative promptly to review the account and possible resolution options. A CP504 does not by itself mean the IRS will automatically freeze your bank account on day 31. The rules for other levies, including notice and hearing rights, depend on the circumstances.
